Shopping in the store
Your list, in the store
Real products, real prices, and a basket you hand to the store.
What it does
Where a supported store operates - Selver, Rimi and Barbora in Estonia today - Mealuna matches your shopping list to the store's real products. Each row shows the store's own product name and photo, the price, and the price per kilo or litre, so you can see what you are actually paying for. Products the store has run out of are marked as such instead of quietly disappearing.
Store shopping is part of Premium. If your country has no partner store yet, the rest of Mealuna works exactly as before.
- Open it from the cart button above your shopping list.
- Rows Mealuna matched on its own are marked so you can check them.
- Rows you picked yourself are marked as your choice and are never overridden.
Price tolerance
At the top of the store view sits a price tolerance. It decides how much cheaper an alternative has to be before Mealuna prefers it over the product you already approved. A small tolerance keeps your usual products; a larger one chases the lowest price harder.
When a match is wrong
Tap any row to open the product picker. You can search the store's whole assortment there and add the right product yourself - useful when your list says something general and the store calls it something else.
- Not linked to a product means Mealuna found nothing to match; search and pick one.
- If the store sells an item only by weight, Mealuna asks before sending a quantity the store would reject.
- A row counted in pieces — say 5 tomatoes — orders about the weight of those pieces when the store sells the item by weight, instead of the store's minimum amount.
- Stores also cap how many of an item you may buy at once. If your quantity is over that cap, Mealuna names those products before sending and leaves anything you do not confirm out of the basket.
Hand the basket over
When the list looks right, one tap hands the basket over. Some stores open their website with your basket already filled; others let Mealuna add the lines to your basket on their own site, then read the basket back so you can see what actually arrived. Either way you finish and pay on the store's site: the store calculates the final amount, and Mealuna's total is an estimate from the latest prices it mirrored.
Afterwards Mealuna asks what you actually bought. Answering keeps the pantry and the shared costs honest, and tells Mealuna if the store swapped something during picking.
Choosing the country you shop in
Stores follow a country you choose, not the region your phone happens to be set to. Open Settings then Stores to switch it; country names appear in your own language.
If you travel, Mealuna notices the time zone change and offers to switch. It never switches on its own, and switching never changes which stores you have enabled at home.
Your store settings are yours
Which stores you use and whether you hold each store's loyalty card belong to your account, not to your group. Other members cannot see or change them.
The loyalty card flag is not cosmetic: with it on, Mealuna compares the price you actually pay, which can make a different product the cheapest one.
