Scanning
Scan to compare in the shop
Point the camera at a product to see how it measures up, without adding it.
Looking is not adding
At the shelf you usually want to know about a product rather than put it on the list. With Premium the scanner carries a switch under the camera, "Add to list" or "View and compare". Choose the second one and a scan opens a product card and changes nothing else: no list item, no pantry entry, and no preference saved for your group.
- Shopping list tab, then the scan button beside the add field
- Pick "View and compare" under the camera
- Scan as many products as you like - nothing is saved until you choose to save it
What the card shows
The card starts with the nutrition printed on that exact pack and the 0-100 fit score, with the reasoning in plain words. Where a partner store operates it also lists the alternatives standing beside it: the same product in other packs, and the rest of that shelf. Any two can be put side by side, and a third simply replaces one of them rather than blocking you.
Two different ways to say yes
The basket button and the star mean different things on purpose. The basket puts the product on this shopping trip only and keeps the choice on your phone. The star means "this one suits me from now on" and is shared with your group, so Mealuna keeps picking it later. Taking the star back removes both.
Where it works, and without a camera
The card and the score work wherever you are, because the score is computed on your phone from the product's own nutrition. Alternatives and prices need a supported store, which today means Selver, Rimi and Barbora in Estonia today.
You do not need the camera to open it. On any shopping-list row, tap "..." and choose "Product info". Rows for products you have already scanned also carry their score right there in the list.
When a barcode is not linked yet
Sometimes a store sells the product but no one has connected that barcode to it yet, so Mealuna can only say it does not know. You can link it yourself: search the store's assortment, pick the right product, and confirm. The link is shared, so the next person who scans that barcode sees the price straight away.
- The button only appears where the store allows it and the barcode really is unlinked.
- You pick the product from the store's own assortment, so the link is a human decision, not a guess.
