Where did the food come from?

Food you log from your pantry lowers the pantry — and Mealuna asks first, so nothing is taken twice.

Why it asks (Premium)

When you log food, Mealuna asks Where did the food come from? The answer decides whether your pantry changes, so the pantry stays right without a separate step.

The food diary is part of Premium.

A product

For a product that is in your group's pantry, My pantry is already chosen, and the line under it says exactly what will happen — for example, From the pantry −10 g · leaves ~175 g (Fridge). Choose Elsewhere for food from a café, a canteen or a friend's kitchen: the pantry is not changed.

A product that is not in the pantry, and your own foods, are logged without the question.

A dish

For a recipe, the answers are Made now, Made earlier and Elsewhere. If Mealuna knows the dish was cooked in the four days before the time you ate it, Made earlier is already chosen and the pantry is left alone: cooking already took the ingredients. If it does not know, it waits for your answer before logging, so the pantry is never lowered twice.

Made now means you are cooking it now. Cook and log opens the recipe's Mark cooked? step: Mark cooked & log my portion takes the ingredients from the pantry and brings the card back, ready for Log as eaten.

The recipe's Mark as eaten, a dish you log again and a link from your AI assistant all open the same card, with the portions, the recipe's nutrition as it is now, and When.

A meal you log again from the past week lists each food with where it comes from. A dish the app knows nothing about shows Choose, and Log waits for your answer — a copied meal is never cooked again.

After logging

When the pantry changed, a message says how much was taken, with Undo. If a product runs out, it goes on the shopping list the same way as after cooking, following your When marking out of stock setting; the message then names what was added to the list instead, and its Undo takes that back.

An entry logged with an answer shows where its food came from with a small mark. Open it to see that in words: while it still holds a pantry amount, It came from elsewhere — put … back returns that amount to the pantry. Deleting such an entry asks whether the food goes back to the pantry.

With automatic decrease on, whatever the estimate had already taken is counted first, so logging never takes the same food twice.

A whole meal from elsewhere

Eating out? Turn on All from elsewhere at the top of Log food before you pick anything. Every food you log then starts on Elsewhere, and you can still change it for a single food.
